Florida panel beaters was started in 1968 and was run as a family concern and has been a beacon of excellent workmanship. The company was sold to GDP Holdings in 2017.
This is when Marlon Tibbetts, Nicolette Tibbetts and Brothers Auto Executive made the decision to go into a partnership and take over Florida Panelbeaters.
The venture began with D Basson, G Basson and P Basson buying the building and M Tibbetts and N Tibbetts joining as 51% B BEE shareholders. In March 2020 we had a change in ownership.
N Tibbetts is now 100% black female owner making our shop a level 1 contributor with a 135% recognition level.
Background:
Marlon Tibbetts qualified as a spraypainter in 1986 while serving his apprenticeship at John Morrison Panelbeaters in City and Suburban, Johannesburg. He worked for the company for six years.
He then decided to venture out on his own, but soon realized that he needed more experience and then went on to work for Barwell & Barwell Motors (BB Cars) in Wynberg. During this time with BB Cars, he went to Germany where he received international training in his field. His responsibilities at BB Cars included managing and running the paint shop.
He stayed with BB Cars for 17 years and once again made the decision to start his own business which resulted in the establishment of Tibby’sWorkshop.
Tibby’sWorkshop was established in 2009 under the management of Marlon Tibbetts. The Company specialized in panelbeating, spraypainting, mechanical services of all makes of vehicles and rebuilds.
Clients included Fosters Toyota, Brothers Auto Executive, Fastsell Motors, Willowcrest Motors, Tractionel Enterprises, WJ De Beer Trucks, E & K Global and a daily influx from the general public.
We commenced business on 21 August 2017. Some of the insurances we service are Santam, Old Mutual, Alexander Forbes, Regent, AMH, Brolink,Bryte, SA Vehicle maintenance, Renasa, Eqstra, SAFIRE , Std Bank fleet etc. to name a few. We are also part of the CSD database.
We have completed our Bureau Veritas and Automx audits. We are members of RMI, SAMBRA , The AA, SAARSA and CRA. We are in good standing with MIBCO, our OEMs include Ford, Mazda, Mahindra, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota , GWM, Haval, Opel and Chev.
We utilize Lightstone for customer satisfaction. We also offer a pick up and drop off service for customers should this be necessary. Our estimator will go out to do quotes if required.
We make use of the Audatex and Dr.Smash programs for our quotations.
Our goal is to provide ongoing service to all customers old and new.
To increase turnover time of vehicles so as to provide customers with hassle free solutions and to expand our current client data base.
